Last week when we were in Paris we had lunch at La Grande Mosquée de Paris, one of our favorite restaurants. This café, across the street from Le Jardin des Plantes, is beautifully decorated and serves couscous and other North African spicy cuisine at very reasonable prices. It has always been bustling. Finding a table had never been easy. This time, however, the place was almost empty. It was strange indeed. I shouldn't have been surprised with the kind of protest that I suppose is indicated by the lack of French customers at the Mosque, but somehow I was.
