Quinn learns how to make fire.
We has a short visit from Emily and the kids. Jos is in London directing a musical. We spent a day in the atelier where everyone had their own project.
Quinn takes his first selfie.
I have some photos from Emily's family vacation for the next few days. They are in Belgium with their other grandmother, Boma. Here, Quinn is making a fairy house in the forest.

Our busy season has more or less ended, so we have a bit more time to make other plans. Our first adventure away from the Maison was to Paris for visit with Emily and her family, whom we hadn't seen since the end of July. They recently moved into a new house in Pantin, just outside the Peripherique.
The place is absolutely great – three bedrooms, two living rooms, two ateliers, a huge basement, a backyard, and even a separate guest apartment – and is in a quiet neighborhood within easy walking distance of the Metro.
Zinnie, who is two and a half now, has really grown up in the weeks since we last saw her. In this photo she looks very much like her mother when she was this age, especially the expression. The monkey robe is something Emily made for her.
We went to visit and to work. There is still much construction going on in the house, tricky business when you're trying to live there at the same time. One day Emily and I took a pleasant walk down the canal. The same one, by the way, that Amélie skipped stones on in the 2001 movie of the same name.
Emily's new house is a few blocks from the canal and it makes a wonderful place to stroll along, especially on a beautiful fall morning, as we had.
There were bikers, boaters, walkers, joggers, skaters, and a farmers market. No cars.
The Pantin city hall is a stately old building, and all along the way are old factories being repurposed.
Our ultimate destination was a community center where there was a crafts fair going on. What a delight. Lots of very cool young people selling their clever products. Emily bought a beautiful etching and a vase.
