I don't have room in my backpack to acquire too many things while here in Portugal, but when Iza offered me this old linoleum block today, I was thrilled. She bought it in Nigeria in the 70s when her husband was the Portuguese ambassador to Western Africa. It is a used block from a famous Nigerian printmaker, Bruce Onobrackpeya. It seems strange that he would sell his blocks, but apparently he did, and Iza has several of them.
i love the purpose-built stamp, made with a wooden handle screwed onto the top of a metal tin, which still has the clasp on it. The linoleum is glued to the that making a very handy stamp block.
